About Us

I have been tutoring virtually for over six years and have helped students all over the country increase their grades and confidence in themselves. I have a bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry and a Master’s degree in Biochemistry and Medical Microbiology. I’m also a classically trained clarinetist and have performed all over the country.

After years of tutoring informally year round and many friends, family, and clients telling me I should start my own company, Flutterby Tutoring and Academic Coaching was born! Flutterby offers consistent 1:1 tutoring in many different areas. The biggest goal for every student is to improve their confidence and help them realize that they can do challenging things and that they ARE smart! Every student learns a little differently, especially those who have ADHD or dyslexia/dyscalculia. Having struggled to learn math in school, I know what it is like to feel behind or have anxiety around learning. It wasn’t until a college professor took the time to teach me calculus in a new way, that really showcased how much Algebra I hadn’t fully conceptualized, that I started to put all the pieces together from math classes in the past, and finally found a love for it. Don’t get me wrong, I had wonderful math teachers in high school, but something just didn’t really click for me until that college professor flipped the script and showed me an entirely new way of looking at the concepts. This experience taught me that there are multiple ways to teach challenging ideas, and each student has different needs/ways of looking at problems. I have experience working with a wide range of students and have learned how to manage my own dyscalculia, allowing me to teach math and science in a way that makes sense to students who are struggling. In addition to greatly enjoying teaching math and science, I also love to teach medical classes, history, and writing courses.
