Frequently Asked Questions
How much are sessions?
Session rates are dependent upon the level of class and whether sessions are scheduled on a regular recurring basis or drop ins. Session rates for general college math and science courses are $60/ 50 min session or $30 for 25 min session. Rates for middle school are $50 / 50 min session or $25 for 25 minute session. Advanced college and graduate classes, as well as test preparation (ACT, SAT, etc) are $85/ 50 min session.
How do I pay?
Sessions will be invoiced to your email each week. You can choose between Venmo or Zelle for payments. Payment is due each Friday.
Do you have a cancellation policy?
I offer a 24 hour cancellation policy. If you know your student will have a conflict, please let me know as soon as possible so we can reschedule you for later in the week. If your student does not show up to a session, you will be charged for that session. I offer one free missed session each semester. I spend time preparing for each session and reserving those times specifically for each student, so payment is required for any missed sessions or last minute cancellation.
Do you require contracts?
I do not require my clients to sign contracts. We will have an email chain with all required information and payment agreements. I do not require you to pay for a set number of sessions up front. You pay for the sessions that are scheduled each week (in agreement with the cancellation policy). If you find that you no longer need tutoring half way through the semester, just let me know two weeks ahead of time so we can get you off the schedule and get another student into those time slots.
How are sessions conducted?
All sessions are done over a password locked zoom meeting which will be sent out in the client welcome email. I can record these zooms if you would like to look back on them. I understand that some students are nervous on camera, so if you do not want your camera on, that is totally fine with me.
What if my student only has enough work for a short session?
If a student lets me know a minimum of three hours ahead of time that they only need a shorter session (half an hour is the shortest I will bill for even if we only use 15 minutes) then we can shorten the lesson and the bill will be adjusted. However, these sessions are reserved specifically for you/your student. Just like any other service, you are charged for my blocking off that time for you/your student. The student’s responsibility is to bring me work that we can do together, or know what the next topic is in class so I can work on getting them ahead. If a student shows up with zero work and has not given me notice, or if the student only has enough material for a short session and has not given me the required notice, they will be charged for the full hour time slot.
